Dr. Kevin Hale Receives Capella’s Physician Leadership Award
September 21, 2012
Dr. Kevin Hale is the recent recipient of Capella Healthcare’s inaugural “Physician Leadership Award” that recognizes physician leadership across all five of Capella’s Pillars: people, service, quality, growth and financial stability. The award was presented in Nashville, Tennessee by Capella Healthcare at its annual Leadership Conference in August.
Michael Wiechart, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Capella Healthcare, presented the award: “Dr. Hale is an unyielding advocate for quality and patient satisfaction for all patients. He was appointed to serve on Capella’s inaugural National Physician Leadership Group, and has risen to the position of Chairman this year.
“Additionally, Dr. Hale’s leadership in the community has been invaluable and played a significant role in the success of area youth as well as the Lake Hamilton public school district. Almost daily he allows youth and their parents to use his personal sports equipment and facilities as a way to further give back to the community. He also provides services such as free physicals through his clinic to youth participating in sports. And he gives significant time to serve on the Lake Hamilton School Board.
Hale is beloved and respected by his peers at NPMC as well as many community members throughout the Hot Springs and Lake Hamilton area. Emergency physician Dr. Russell Deluca said of Dr. Hale, “Physicians and nurses alike have frequently told me that he is a source of positive inspiration and very supportive of our department.
These acts of kindness, as well as his concern and care for his patients, have not gone unnoticed and we have appreciated all he has done for healthcare in our area.”
Lake Hamilton Schools Superintendent Steve Anderson said, “I can think of no other person in our community that is more giving of his time and resources than Dr. Kevin Hale. Dr. Hale gives selflessly of his time and works in many worthy community activities. Kevin Hale is a perfect example of someone who sees part of his responsibility as a community member that he should give back to the community where he lives. His generosity has touched countless thousands of people in Garland and surrounding counties in Arkansas. Dr. Kevin Hale does what he does for this community, not because he has to, but because he wants to and because that is the type of person he is. I am proud to call Kevin my friend.”
Dr. Hale’s fellow family practice physician Dr. Scott Erwin said “Over the past fifteen years I have watched Kevin grow as a person and a physician. I have watched as he has faced challenges at almost every level of his being. His leadership and ability to rise above these challenges shows his true character and resolve. I look forward to working with him into the next transition of our practice and changes that will occur in our community as our delivery of healthcare changes.”
In 2009, Dr. Hale used the painful experience of the loss of his son Kameron to form an organization that makes a daily impact on youth throughout the Hot Springs area. The Kamo’s Kids Foundation actively works with community organizations, the juvenile court system and school counselors to provide a wide variety of needs to underserved children. In recognition of his receipt of the Physician Leadership Award, Capella made a donation to the Kamo’s Kids Foundation, which is guided by three principles that represented Kameron’s outlook on life: “Kourage” to do what is right, “Kompassion” for others and “Kommitment” to Excellence. “Dr. Kevin Hale is a leader in Hot Springs both at the hospital and throughout the community,” said Jerry Mabry, President of Capella’s Arkansas Market. “I am certainly pleased that he has also emerged as a leader for National Park Medical Center and believe it is fitting that he should be the first recipient of Capella’s Physician Leadership Award. We are truly fortunate to have him as a part of our medical staff, both for his excellent patient care and for his outstanding community leadership.”
