Cardiac Testing
If a cardiologist or primary care physician suspects a problem with your heart, National Park Medical Center provides a variety of testing procedures to aide in a diagnosis. Noninvasive testing such as nuclear stress testing, EKG’s, echocardiograms, Doppler studies and carotid artery scans can identify any evidence of blockage.
For patients who simply want peace of mind about his or her heart’s health, the smart score CT scan is available. The non-invasive scan looks for calcium build-up in the arteries, which can lead to cardiovascular disease. By identifying the build-up in the arteries, a physician can better determine whether a person is at high risk for heart disease.
Cardiac Catheterization & Interventional Cardiology
Directed by a board certified interventional cardiologist and peripheral vascular specialist, National Park Medical Center’s cardiac catheterization laboratory provides patients with some of the most advanced diagnostics and interventional therapies available today. Our skilled technicians and nurses who work hand in hand to provide minimally invasive procedures that are technologically advanced.
A wide range of procedures may be performed including cardiac catheterization to identify blood flow, blockage, valve leakage, pressure and oxygen levels as well as immediate angioplasty and stenting for patients presenting with heart attacks. For patients with blocked arteries, additional vascular procedures may be performed in the cardiac cath lab including carotid angiograms, peripheral angiograms, peripheral balloon angioplasty, renal angiograms, PTA and stenting.
Critical & Progressive Care Units
When heart problems need around the clock attention, Intensive or Progressive Care may be necessary. Nurses work directly with a patient’s cardiologist or cardiovascular surgeon to relieve pain and prevent the possibility of further heart damage. Whether a patient needs critical care or progressive care, he or she can be placed on continuous monitoring, or telemetry, to monitor his or her heart patterns while in the unit.
