Certified Respiratory Therapy Technicians, Registered Respiratory Therapists and staffing for a Level II nursery and 16 bed ICU unit, the NPMC Respiratory Therapy unit provides a full service department that operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The unit offers breathing treatments including inhaled nebulizers, IPPB, and breathing exercise/incentive spirometer aerosol therapy.
Other available treatments and equipment include:
• Adult or neonatal ventilators
• Video capable Bronchoscopes
• Bedside pulmonary function
• Arterial blood gases done using the I-stat machine
The NPMC Respiratory Therapy department works with all ages from neonatal to geriatric patients. The unit provides ABG, EKG and PFT's in addition to various therapeutic modalities. In addition, the unit works closely with The Regional Heart Center and cardiac patients.
