Physical Therapy

Some of the most advance treatments and modalities are used in the NPMC Physical Therapy Department. The staff makes a constant effort to stay on the cutting edge of treatment, research and field development through continued education and training. From this effort, Director of Physical Therapy, Steve Burns, PT, with his staff of physical therapists and technicians provide individualized services to an inpatient and rapidly growing outpatient population. Our services include:

Inpatient Orthopedic Rehabilitation

This program can be designed specifically for adult or pediatric patients. The most advanced techniques are couples with the necessary equipment to create the best environment for improvement possible. Treatment may consist of gait training, transfer training, ADL training, individualized exercise programs and fine motor dysfunction.

Outpatient Orthopedic Rehabilitation

In addition to the inpatient program, an outpatient program is designed to provide aggressive techniques used to equip patients for the demands of work and recreation. Traditional methods of exercise are used to incorporate an Open/Closed Chain Rehabilitation Technique. This techniques addresses function at the neuromuscular and musculoskeletal levels and require special training on the part of the therapist.

Spinal Dysfunction Treatment & Prevention

Neurology

This may be for peripheral or central nervous system disorders.

Community Education

Public educational programs are provided to local organizations and businesses in an effort to educate the public on topics such as back care, sports conditioning, conditioning after injury and injury prevention.

Return to Work Conditioning

Special programs are designed for individuals wishing to condition themselves to handle the demands of the workplace. Aspects of strength, flexibility, endurance and aerobic conditioning are considered.

Pain Modification

Programs using modalities and exercise are incorporated.

Consultation in Sport & Activity Training
