National Park Medical Center to host inaugural Motherhood Day
May 01, 2026National Park Medical Center is pleased to announce that it will host its inaugural Motherhood Day this Saturday, May 2. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Fordyce Room at the hospital at 1900 Malvern Ave.
“When you think of labor and delivery, you think of babies being born, but L&D is where mothers are born too,” said Dustin Goad, Director of High Reliability and Women’s Health. “Our mission is ‘making communities healthier,’ and by connecting mothers to resources that aid in their journey does just that…for mom and baby.”
The event will offer mothers and mothers-to-be a chance to connect with several local businesses and organizations that have products and services which help make motherhood safer and more enjoyable.
Dr. Pittman Moore, OB/GYN, and the Physicians for Women Clinic will be on hand to answer questions, as well as Dr. Mark Kijek, the laborist at NPMC.
Booths will include the organizations like Garland County Library, which will be on hand to provide information about its children’s programs offered. Other booths will consist of learning about doula services from Three Rooted Blossoms, the milk bank program from UAMS, mental health from Ouachita Behavioral Health and Wellness, and Oh Honey Children's Boutique.
This drop-in event will have refreshments from National Park Medical Center Executive Chef Matt Johnson and door prizes from businesses like Heights Corner Market.
“We take our mission seriously and are constantly looking for ways to help improve the health and lives of those in our community,” CEO Scott Bailey said. “I am proud of our Labor and Delivery Department and Physicians for Women Clinic that ensure those they serve are taken care of before and after their visit with us."
