National Park Medical Center now offers free access to live and interactive virtual childbirth classes
March 14, 2024

National Park Medical Center (NPMC) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Birthly to offer free access to virtual childbirth classes, allowing patients to access valuable educational resources in the comfort of their own homes.
“We are excited to now offer free virtual education classes to expecting parents in our community,” says Ashley York, MSN, RN, director of maternal child services at National Park Medical Center. “Prenatal education is so important for new parents and offering a virtual option will allow parents to join classes when and where it is convenient for them. Because the classes are live and interactive, participants can ask questions and interact and share experiences with other new parents.”
Through the Birthly partnership, National Park Medical Center’s patients are now able to access a variety of perinatal classes online at no additional cost. All classes are live, which means patients will have the opportunity to connect through a live video feed with certified and experienced childbirth educators. Birthly educators will provide interactive teaching on a variety of top-of-mind topics and patients will have dedicated time to ask questions.
Classes currently offered include Early Pregnancy Preparations, Prenatal Education Bootcamp (English and Spanish), Coping and Comfort, Breastfeeding 101(English and Spanish), as well as Newborn Care (English and Spanish). Since each class type is offered multiple times a month, patients now have more flexibility in choosing a time that fits their schedule and can attend classes anywhere virtually via their laptop, tablet, and other mobile devices.
NPMC also offers:
- Perinatal Mental Health which covers potential mental health issues and risk factors during pregnancy and after birth. It also provides strategies for practicing self-care, building a support system, and promoting emotional wellbeing.
- Pre/Postnatal Movement and Mindfulness- A prenatal yoga flow class that focuses on breathwork and movement to provide parents with the tools to thrive during pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum.
